The first step in designing a new home is to have a meeting either in person or by telephone, where I can answer any questions you might have concerning your specific project. This is also the time were you talk to me about your vision, priorities and orientation on the lot. It is also the time where you can show me pictures and plans that have features that you want incorporated. It is also time to consider the contractor whom you wish to build it. You may want him to have input concerning pricing.
I make a site visit and I take all these ideas to do some preliminary floor plans. You look at them and decide what it is that you like either in parts or in the whole. Part of one and part of another can be incorporated into the final direction for the floor plan of the home. This back and forth process goes on until every detail is in place, at the same time that we are now talking about the exterior appearance.
Next the 3D computer model allows us to look at Rooflines, Exterior Elevations, and Finishing. When all the details are in place, it is time for construction drawings. These can be issued for pricing prior to being issued for permit. This allows you and your contractor to make any modifications that might be influenced by cost. The drawings are then issued for permit and I remain available to your contactor should he have any questions.
